Ferrari is an Italian sports car manufacturer based in Maranello, Italy. Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929 as Scuderia Ferrari(racing team division of the Ferrari automobile marque) before moving into production of street-legal vehicles as Ferrari in 1947.
Enzo Ferrari never intended to produce road cars when he formed Scuderia Ferrari in 1928 as a sponsor for amateur drivers headquartered in Modena. Ferrari prepared, and successfully raced, various drivers in Alfa Romeo cars until 1938, when he was hired by Alfa Romeo to head their motor racing department.

Since the company's beginnings, Ferrari has been involved in motorsport, competing in a range of categories including Formula One and sports car racing through its Scuderia Ferrari sporting division as well as supplying cars and engines to other teams and for one make series. |

1908 Enzo sees his first motor race and decides he wants to be a racing driver
1919 He enters his first race, finishing ninth. He also gets a job at the Alfa Romeo factory
1929 He launches the Scuderia Ferrari (which means Ferrari Stable) racing team, using Alfa Romeo cars
1932 The famous prancing horse logo makes its first appearance on a racing car
1937 Enzo leaves Alfa Romeo and sets up Auto-Avio Construziono Ferrari to make spare parts for vehicles in Modena
1940 The company produces its first race car, the Tipo 815
1943 Due to fears of bombing during World War II, he moves production to Maranello
1947 Enzo reluctantly agrees for Ferrari to produce its first road car – the 125 S – to fund his racing team
1950 Scuderia Ferrari joins the newly formed Formula One racing circuit
1952 Italian driver Alberto Ascari becomes Ferrari’s first F1 World Champion
1962 Ferrari builds the classic 250 GTO, which dominates the GT racing scene for much of the decade
1979 South African driver Jody Schecker wins the F1 drivers’ championship for Ferrari. It is 21 years before the team wins another one

1988 Enzo Ferrari passes away at the grand old age of 90

The Ferrari California powered by 4.3 liter V8 engine features direct fuel injection into the combustion chambers. Power output is 460 CV, peaking at 7,750rpm with 485 Nm of torque produced at 5,000 rpm. The other major technical innovation is the California’s seven-speed dual clutch transmission ensuring a minimal torque interruption during gearshifts as well as delivering seamless progress. It features carbon ceramic discs (CCM) as standard to ensure shorter stopping distances.

The 458 Italia is powered by a 4.5 L V8 engine derived from a shared Ferrari/Maserati design, producing 570 PS (419 kW; 562 hp) at 9,000 rpm (redline) and 540 N·m (398 lb·ft) at 6,000 rpm with 80% torque available at 3,250 rpm.The engine features direct fuel injection, which is a first for Ferrari mid-engine setups in its road cars.
The 4.5 L V8 in the 458 currently holds the world record for most power per liter in a naturally aspirated production car engine

The 6.0 L (5999 cc) V12 engine produces a maximum 620 PS (456 kW; 612 hp), making it the most powerful series production Ferrari road car of the time. This is one of the few engines whose output exceeds 100 hp per liter of displacement without any sort of forced-induction mechanism such as supercharging or turbocharging. Its 608 N·m (448 ft·lbf) of torque will also be a new record for Ferrari's GT cars. Most of the modifications to the engine were done to allow it to fit in the Fiorano's engine bay

The new four-wheel drive system, engineered and patented by Ferrari, is called 4RM: it is around 50% lighter than a conventional system, and provides power intelligently to each of the four wheels as needed.
